What is USP?
- A singles organization
- A place to make new friends
- An alternate to Internet dating or singles clubs
What do we do?
- We sponsor a large variety of
social, cultural,
educational and
fun-filled group activities
each month
- Our members share their special interests by inviting
members to
join them in activities of
mutual interest
- We are not a dating service,
however, some members have
met through USP events and
later married.
How long has USP been an
active group?
- USP was started in 1950 by two Brown University
graduates and
has been an active, singles
social group ever since.
Who are USP members?

USP is open to men and women who are single, widowed or divorced
·
2/3rds of USP members hold college degrees; other members have
similar
or professional interests
·
Members must be over 21, although most of our members are age 40
and up
Examples of Recent USP events:
- Theater Trinity, PPAC, 2nd Story, Gamm
- Music RI Philharmonic, Cavalcade of Bands, Concerts
on the Square
- Art RISD Museum, MFA, Providence and Newport Gallery
Nights
- Sports sailing, baseball, polo, biking, golf and
mini-golf, hiking, bowling
- Parties house, holiday, beach
- Travel Bermuda cruises, Italian vacations, day trips
- Dances casual and semi-formal
- Dining brunches, lunches, dinners, wine tastings and
happy hours
- Games Scrabble, Mahjong, cards, Foxwoods, Twin
Rivers
- Seasonal Valentines, St. Patricks, 4th of
July
- Events with singles groups from MA and CT
- And much, much more
Our members are encouraged to sponsor activities of
personal interest and to invite members to join them. We value suggestions and
input from all of our members.
How do you join USP?
Follow these steps:
- Call the membership chairperson and ask for an
application form and a current newsletter listing our upcoming events
- Choose events to attend to meet our membership and
experience the fun first-hand
- Fill out the application form available from our
website or membership chair and mail it to USP
